The Museum of Geology at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for an Associate Director. The Museum of Geology consists of two distinct but interrelated components: the public museum and the James E. Martin Paleontology Research Lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for all the collections held by the Museum of Geology. Duties include serving as collections manager and museum registrar; database administration; STEM educational outreach and college-level teaching; supervising students and volunteers working in collections; and developing and maintaining positive relationships with repository agencies and other partners.
A Master’s or PhD degree in Geology, Museum Studies, or related field is required in addition to at least 5 years of experience as a museum collections manager or museum registrar. Experience teaching at the college level, working with collections databases, and supervising students and volunteers is preferred.
